Bruce Williamson

Bruce provides strategic guidance to clients on political and regulatory developments in the Andean region. His work focuses on energy and natural resource issues in Bolivia and Peru, helping investors navigate stakeholder risk, shifting governance environments, and post-crisis recovery scenarios.
Bruce brings deep expertise in Latin American politics, diplomacy, and policy formation. He focuses on national resource governance, oil and gas regulation, and the relationship between government institutions and foreign investment across the region.
A retired Senior Foreign Service Officer, Bruce spent more than three decades at the US Department of State. He served as Chief of Mission in Bolivia and held senior posts in Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, and Mexico. He began working on the Andes in 1991 as the department’s desk officer for Peru.
He holds a BA in Economics from Yale University, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a degree from the US National Defense University. In 2022, he received the Presidential Meritorious Service Award and has earned multiple State Department honors for leadership in complex diplomatic postings.
