Clementine Wallop

Clementine oversees Horizon Engage’s research and analyst team across Sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2019, she has led the firm’s Nigeria research, advising clients on political and commercial developments with a focus on regulatory landscapes, stakeholder dynamics, and the business environment.
Through frequent travel and having previously lived in Abuja, Clementine brings insight into how politics, policy, and influence networks shape commercial outcomes across the region. She has guided international companies through complex environments in sectors such as energy, ports, and consumer goods. She also leads due diligence, counterparty risk assessments, and market entry engagements for clients operating in high-stakes sectors in the region.
Prior to joining Horizon Engage, Clementine worked as a commodities journalist in Singapore and London, reporting on global markets and supply chains. She is regularly quoted in international media on Nigerian business and politics.
She holds a BA in English from Magdalen College, Oxford University.
