Mike supports clients with political and regulatory analysis in South Africa, with a focus on the region’s evolving energy landscape and the dynamics of the energy transition. Mike helps investors navigate stakeholder complexity, policy shifts, and governance challenges.
Based in Cape Town, Mike has over two decades of experience advising multinational companies, institutional investors, and development organizations on Southern African political risk. His recent work has increasingly centered on South Africa’s transition away from coal, analyzing the intersection of political will, regulatory reform, and infrastructure readiness.
Before returning to South Africa, Mike worked for several leading London-based risk consultancies, where he advised clients on market entry and operational risk across sub-Saharan Africa.
Mike holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town.
